Although much of a gathering is spontaneous fabulousness, there are key teams of volunteers that provide things like food preparation, decoration, wood-chopping and welfare. Volunteering together is a great way to build friendships at the castle and to show your love and appreciation for the Faerie community. You can step up for many of these roles on the booking form.
The kitchen volunteers keep the gathering fed by cooking lunch and dinner at the castle. The team comprise a Kitchen ‘Oddess (or two) who come up with a meal plan, and a team of kitchen helpers to chop, bake and stir! Cooking at the castle is a great communal activity and a lot of fun! We also have raccoons (who wash the kitchen dishes) and dish-dancers (who carry the big pots back down from the dining room to the kitchen). NB - everyone is expected to wash up their own plate etc.
You can step up for the day’s kitchen team at the morning meeting or join the pre-planning team and help order food and supplies before the gathering starts.
The Welfaeries are a volunteer team that look after wellbeing at the Castle. They offer comfort to Faeries in need of emotional support and look after Faeries with access and mobility needs.

The wood pigs deal with all things fire-related at the castle. They keep the castle fires lit, chop wood in the woodshed and carry the wood up to the fires. This is a great team for those who like to swing and axe or for those who would like to learn woodchopping!
Please remember to bring sturdy boots and work gloves with you. Extra axes are always welcome!
For many Faeries, drag is an important part of a gathering - a place to experiment with clothing, costumes and self-expression, outside the norms of outside society. There is a drag room at the castle that will be stocked with clothing & accessories from the Faerie Drag Bag. You are invited to bring any fabulous unwanted costumes to add to the bag!
The drag room requires a team of Faeries to set it up, keep it tidy and take it down at the end of the event.
The Love Temple is a space in the castle for intimate connections.

Events and ritual are the beating-heart of gatherings. This team manage traditional events such as the No Talent Show and Fae Auction, along with rituals such as the opening and closing ceremonies.
This is a great team for queer performers, creative spectaculars and sacred magic weavers!
